President Trump’s message was delivered with clarity and urgency. “There were only 8,326 apprehensions by Border Patrol at the U.S.-Mexico border, and every single one of them was either immediately ejected from our Nation or, when necessary, prosecuted for crimes against the United States,” he wrote on Truth Social. At the height of the Biden administration, CBP reported as many as 301,981 encounters in a single month in December 2023—a figure that Trump said has now plummeted by 96% under his policies.
Trump’s declaration builds on his initial actions as president, which included an emergency proclamation on his first day in office, where he vowed to address the surge of illegal immigration head-on.
