The investigation into the deaths of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa has uncovered new details, suggesting the deaths might be the result of a tragic accident. Forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden explained on Fox Report that Hackman’s pacemaker, which last recorded activity on February 17, could provide crucial insight into the cause of death.
According to an affidavit obtained by NBC News, Arakawa, 65, was found on the bathroom floor near a space heater and prescription medication scattered across the counter. The medications included thyroid medication, Tylenol, and Diltiazem, a blood pressure drug.
Hackman’s pacemaker revealed his last recorded event occurred on February 17, indicating he may have passed away nine days before being discovered. Dr. Baden theorized that Hackman likely suffered cardiac arrest, caused by irregular pulse rates, leading to his collapse in the mudroom.
Dr. Baden also suggested that Arakawa’s death may have followed Hackman’s. She might have rushed to get his medication in distress, collapsing in the process, possibly hitting her head or experiencing a heart event triggered by the situation.
