Every day, we’re bombarded with tragic news. While bad news sells, we believe in balancing it with stories of hope.
Meet Ngo Quy Hai, a 29-year-old burn survivor who now owns a successful bakery in Kon Tum, Vietnam. But his journey was far from easy.
As a toddler, Hai fell into an open wood stove, suffering severe burns. He spent two years in the hospital, undergoing reconstructive surgeries. Despite surviving, he faced relentless bullying and isolation. At one point, he didn’t leave his house for nearly two years.
Hai found solace in a friend who also had disabilities. They bonded over shared struggles. Their rejection from a bakery due to their appearance ignited Hai’s dream: to open an inclusive bakery where everyone felt welcome.
With his family’s support, he trained in hospitality and achieved his goal. Now, he gives back, offering food to underprivileged children.
“I am more than how I look. I am a survivor,” Hai says.
