Legendary Formula One driver and team owner Eddie Jordan passed away at 76 after battling prostate and bladder cancer. Jordan, who managed his own F1 team from 1991 to 2005, later became a broadcaster for the BBC and Channel 4.
His family confirmed his passing in a statement, saying, “EJ brought an abundance of charisma, energy, and Irish charm everywhere he went.” Jordan’s contributions to motorsport were immense—he founded Jordan Grand Prix, gave Michael Schumacher his F1 debut, and mentored Adrian Newey.
Tributes poured in from the F1 community. Jake Humphrey called it a “devastatingly sad day,” while Red Bull’s Christian Horner remembered Jordan’s passion and larger-than-life presence. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali praised his “inexhaustible energy” and impact on the sport.
Jordan, who was diagnosed last year, urged people to get tested, emphasizing, “Look after your body.” His legacy extends beyond racing, with contributions to charity and education. He is survived by his wife, Marie, and children, Zoe, Miki, Zak, and Kyle. The motorsport world mourns a true icon.
