Although it is well known that Donald Trump wants to incorporate Greenland into the United States, the island’s officials are not amenable to this.
Mute Egede, the prime minister of Greenland, recently gave US President Trump a three-word slapdown because he had had enough of the rhetoric.

Thousands of Greenlanders protested over the weekend against Donald Trump’s remarks on U.S. occupation. Nuuk saw its largest protest ever, with demonstrators chanting, “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders.” Protests also spread to Sisimiut, with banners reading, “Yankee go home.” Organizer Orla Joelsen expressed amazement at the turnout. Protesters criticized Trump’s actions, rejecting claims that Greenlanders support the U.S. Prime Minister Múte B. Egede joined the protests, reaffirming that Greenland is not for sale. “Unity is our strength,” he stated, condemning foreign pressure. The demonstrations highlighted Greenland’s firm stance on sovereignty and national identity.
