Molly’s life was a struggle, constantly moving from town to town, trying to provide stability for her son, Tommy. Each move meant a new school, more instability, and increasing frustration for Tommy. He began acting out, bullying other kids, and getting into fights. Molly was heartbroken, knowing it was the result of their chaotic life, but she felt powerless to stop it.
At lunch one day, the tension between Molly and her husband, Nigel, was palpable. He barely acknowledged her efforts and criticized her, even blaming Tommy’s behavior on her. Nigel had never truly accepted Tommy as his own, and it stung every time he referred to him as “your son.”
Just when Molly thought things couldn’t get worse, she received a call from the school principal, Mrs. Kolinz. Tommy’s behavior had escalated, and she was asked to come in for a meeting. Molly’s heart sank. She feared Tommy might be expelled, and the thought of uprooting their lives again was unbearable. The future seemed uncertain as they walked to the principal’s office the next day.
