It was five hours until my wedding. The veil was on, the aisle was waiting, and I was ready to say “I do.” Then the doorbell rang. Expecting joy, I opened the door to find a baby in a car seat and a chilling note: “The baby is Nate’s now. Ask him yourself.”
My heart raced. This couldn’t be real. Nate and I had three years together, full of promises and dreams. How could he hide something this big? I scanned the note again, but it was unmistakably clear.
I carefully lifted the car seat, bringing the baby inside. My wedding dress rustled as I tried to make sense of it all. When my maid of honor arrived, she read the note, shocked. “Is this for real?” she asked.
At the ceremony, the atmosphere shifted as Nate saw the baby and the note. He tried to explain, but his mother stood up and revealed the truth: the baby was his sister’s, someone he hadn’t seen in years. I wasn’t sure what to do, but I knew one thing—this baby was now my family too.
And so, we continued the ceremony, with Rose in my arms.
