
On Friday, Julia Roberts shared a sad Instagram post announcing the tragic death of her family dog, Myrtle.
The 57-year-old Pretty Woman actress, who frequently goes out with the rescue dog she acquired in 2006, posted a picture of Myrtle that was taken outside.
The message read, ‘Our Myrtle. A Legend. 2006-2025,’ and included a crown emoji, which she shared with her 12.8 million followers.
She married Daniel Moder in 2002, and he also posted a heartfelt remembrance to their cherished pet.
He included a picture of Myrtle and typed out, “The definition of Fierce Loyalty, even if she bit the pizza man once. RIP Mytlle…aka Myrtle Von Mertzenberger.”

The cherished dog was also accustomed to being photographed, and she most famously appeared with Roberts for her Chopard Loves Cinema campaign in 2023.
As a global spokesperson for the high-end jewellery brand, Julia participated in a 12-episode web series for the campaign that provided a more intimate look into her Hollywood life.
James Grey directed the short films, and in one clip, Myrtle was seen leaping up beside the actress while they were filming.
The BTS moments were described as the star “spreading her joy and larks” in a press statement at the time.
