Candice Bergen is mourning the passing of her beloved husband, Marshall Rose, who died peacefully on February 15 at the age of 88, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.

Marshall Rose was more than a successful real estate developer—he was a civic visionary and philanthropist dedicated to enriching New York City. Born in Brighton Beach in 1937, he studied economics at City College and earned a law degree from NYU. In 1978, he founded The Georgetown Company, leading transformative projects like Frank Gehry’s IAC building and the renovation of Madison Square Garden.

Later, Rose focused on philanthropy, championing charter schools and serving on numerous nonprofit boards. He proudly devoted 30 years to the New York Public Library, contributing to major renovations and the revitalization of Bryant Park. Known for his wisdom, humor, and mentorship, he was a cherished father, grandfather, and leader.

Candice Bergen, born May 9, 1946, is an award-winning actress best known for Murphy Brown. A Beverly Hills native, she is also a bestselling author and activist, celebrated for her contributions to film, television, and literature.
