The humor in that joke would surely have made him laugh — he had an effortless gift for comedy. His absence will be deeply felt by friends, colleagues, fellow artists, comedians, musicians, and, most endearingly, many dogs. His wife and daughter will feel the loss most profoundly. I loved him deeply.
Martin Mull was best known as Coach Willard Kraft on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Leon Carp on Roseanne, and Gene Parmesan in Arrested Development. In 2016, he earned an Emmy nomination for Veep as Bob Bradley.
Mull co-wrote the 1985 mockumentary The History of White People in America with Fred Willard and penned parody songs like A Girl Named Johnny Cash, charted by Jane Morgan. He opened for legends such as Frank Zappa, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel.
