Two teenagers have been found dead in a remote part of Arizona’s Tonto National Forest, with authorities treating their deaths as suspicious homicides.
Eighteen-year-old Pandora Kjolsrud and 17-year-old Evan Clark were discovered near Mount Ord, about 90 minutes from Phoenix, on the morning of May 27. Both teens had died from gunshot wounds during what was supposed to be a Memorial Day weekend camping trip.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner confirmed their deaths occurred on May 26 and ruled them as homicides. The Sheriff’s Office has stated that the case is under active investigation.
Grieving parents have launched GoFundMe pages to honor their children. Evan’s mother, Sandra Malibu Sweeney, described her son as a “bright, kind, entrepreneurial old soul,” who wrote her a heartfelt letter for Mother’s Day.
Pandora was remembered for her deep love of animals, vibrant personality, and musical talents.
“She brought joy to everyone she met,” her tribute reads.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized their commitment to a “comprehensive and meticulous investigation” and asked for public patience as they work to uncover the truth.
