“Fit and healthy” teacher Glenn Colmer died holding his wife and kids’ hands, “squeezing tightly as if to say ‘goodbye’” after devastating diagnosis

- Glenn Colmer struggled with headaches but was told he likely needed new eyeglasses
- The father of two had a sudden seizure and was diagnosed with a devastating brain tumor
- His widow, Ali, says he kept reaching for her and their children’s hands as he was dying, “squeezing tightly as if to say ‘goodbye’ “
Glenn Colmer, 51, died less than a week after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. He had suffered headaches for a year before collapsing in a seizure at home in Southampton. His symptoms were initially dismissed as minor or vision-related.

Four days after being hospitalized, Glenn Colmer, 51, was diagnosed with a high-grade glioma. His wife, Ali, called the news horrendous. The diagnosis shattered their family, leaving Glenn silent and vacant, his once vibrant spirit extinguished by the grim reality.

Glenn’s condition worsened quickly. Weakened and in pain, he was rushed to the hospital on February 25 with a brain hemorrhage. Unable to speak, he held his family’s hands tightly—his silent farewell, a final gesture of love and gratitude.

Glenn died on February 28; a GoFundMe has been established to raise funds for a memorial bench in his honor.
“Glenn was more than his diagnosis. He was a mentor, a joker, a passionate teacher and friend,” said Ali who added that more than 500 people attended his funeral. “He touched lives across the world. He made people feel seen, valued, and inspired.”
