Captain Marvin Taylor III, a devoted Texas fire captain, died just hours after welcoming his fifth child into the world. On May 11, after leaving the hospital in Austin to check on his other children, Taylor was tragically killed by an intoxicated driver traveling over 100 mph. The suspect, 34-year-old Rodney Bremby, was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Fire Chief James Kubinski described Taylor as a committed husband and father, often working overtime to support his growing family. Taylor had been with the Killeen Fire Department since 2014 and recently doubled its training division applicant pool. He was also honored with a Medal of Valor for rescuing a stranger from floodwaters.

His death has left the department and his family in disbelief. His wife is now navigating life with a newborn, without the man who always put his family first. The community has rallied in support, raising over $145,000 and honoring Taylor with a 10-day vigil and funeral procession.

“He was a family man,” Kubinski said. “We’re still grieving. We’re still hurting. He will never be forgotten.”
