Mikhaila Peterson, daughter of Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson, has revealed how switching to an all-beef diet dramatically improved her physical and mental health.
At just 17, Mikhaila underwent hip and ankle replacement surgery after suffering from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, diagnosed at age seven. By then, the disease had already affected 37 of her joints. Her symptoms began as early as age two, when her unusual walking was dismissed by doctors as “growing pains.”
Now 33, she explained on her podcast how traditional medicine failed to bring relief, prompting her to try an elimination diet. Surprisingly, even healthy foods like vegetables and rice triggered flare-ups. Only beef caused no reaction.
She began the meat-only “Lion Diet” in 2017. “It took two weeks for arthritis symptoms to go away and six weeks for my depression to lift,” she shared. Within five months, her anxiety also subsided.
Mikhaila believes extreme gut permeability makes her sensitive to most foods. She says thousands with autoimmune or psychiatric disorders have found relief through similar carnivore diets. While some reintroduce foods, others thrive on just meat, finally living symptom-free. “It’s been a wild ride,” she said.
