Juliana Marins, a 26-year-old Brazilian traveler, tragically died after falling into a volcano crater on Indonesia’s Lombok island. Her final text to her mother, sent just before the incident, has now been revealed—every mother’s worst nightmare.
“Mami, I love you so much. I was heartbroken when we said goodbye,” she wrote. Juliana, known for her love of adventure, added: “I’m not afraid. I was raised by a woman who solves anything. I’m like that too.”
On June 21, while hiking Gunung Rinjani, she paused to rest but became separated from her group. She later fell from a 500-meter cliff. Her lifeless body was located by drone two days later.
Juliana’s family, devastated, blamed rescue delays. “If the team had reached her within 7 hours, Juliana would still be alive,” they posted online.
Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed her body was recovered after four days, amid difficult weather and terrain. Lawmakers have since called for an investigation.
Senator Tereza Cristina wrote: “Juliana was left behind twice—on the trail and after the fall. She deserved better. We demand justice.”
