It’s always a good idea to take care of your family and many of us feel obligated to do so. In fact, it is such a part of us that we may even enjoy watching others care for their family online.
Many people who regularly watch TikTok clips are familiar with Chris Punsalan. He shares videos with his 1.9 million followers, but it isn’t what you would typically find on that social media video platform.
When you see one of Chris’s videos, and is all about his ‘Lola’. She is his sweet grandmother, and he shares videos with the world to show what he does on a daily basis.
Aside from being a content producer and musician, the 29-year-old man is also a full-time caregiver. He takes care of his grandmother in Henderson, Nevada, and it seems as if he does a good job of it.
Chris has always been interested in having YouTube videos. He had even experimented with different types of style, but what really made him well-known was something even closer to his heart.
The young man and his family are from the Philippines and later, moved to the United States. His grandmother, or his ‘Lola’ moved along with them.
In her younger years, she was a schoolteacher in the Philippines. When you listen to them speaking, they are speaking the Kapampangan dialect in the videos. The family was trying to see if they would hire a full-time caregiver but Chris knew that he was up for the job.
Lola is an affectionate term that is commonly used for grandmothers in the Philippines. You often hear Chris call her Apu, which is the version of grandmother from their dialect. He couldn’t imagine that he would send her to a home, so he knew that he would take care of her.
Chris even devotes much of his time to caring for her, giving her the undivided attention and love she needed. He has been sharing those videos since 2014 and vlogging since 2019.
Even though it takes a lot of time and energy, Chris realizes that she is well worth it. He is very soft-spoken with his grandmother and their daily vlogs show just how far he will go to make her comfortable and happy.
Unfortunately, age was catching up with her in the videos and you could tell that she was getting forgetful. Sometimes she would even ask who he was, but he continued to treasure every moment they had together.
