A 17-year-old Filipino girl, Mary Ann Regacho, lost her vision within hours after pressing a boil on her face.
After giving birth at 16, she noticed a pimple on her nose bridge that she thought was hormonal. When it didn’t heal and kept growing, spreading across her face and affecting her eyesight, she became alarmed.
Mary tried natural remedies, but nothing worked. She fears her face may never be the same. Due to her husband Albert Sales’ unstable, low-paying farm job, they couldn’t afford medical treatment. After a year, Mary sought hospital care but couldn’t pay the fees.
Albert appealed to the public for donations to help cover her medical expenses, saying they only earn enough to support themselves and their baby.
