Near-Death Experience

One woman has described how her near-death experience (NDE) inspired her to believe in the afterlife.

Amanda Wideman and her ex-partner were in a major car accident in 2017 while they were returning from a music festival in British Columbia.

Driving on a high mountain road, they were trying to avoid a car that had lost control and entered their lane when their automobile veered out of the way and collided with another vehicle.

They were stranded upside down on a concrete guardrail, inches from a precipitous cliff, after the collision turned their automobile over.

“In that split second, I 100 percent believed I was going to die,” Amanda recalled to The Other Side NDE in 2023. “I closed my eyes, relaxed all my muscles, and just let go.”

Because Amanda wasn’t paying attention, her 16-year-old girlfriend, who was driving, stayed aware and screamed after the collision. She says she experienced a ‘amazing’ out-of-body experience during that brief time.

Amanda’s NDE made her believe ‘life goes on forever’

Amanda thought her life was over as soon as the crash happened.

“I remember first experiencing a vast blackness that seemed to go on forever. It wasn’t frightening – it just seemed almost like this safe, feathery, pillowy, unending cave.” she recalled.

‘She didn’t have a body,’ the former paramedic claimed.

“The incredible lightness and freedom of not having that, but being fully still me and having my awareness and perception and all that was incredible.” she said, adding that she ‘couldn’t see or hear anything’ but she was more ‘aware and awake’.

Before being encircled by “millions of presences,” Amanda claimed to have felt a “presence” that she believes is what “many people would call God.” She also described the “presence” as being “loving and non-judgemental.”

Shortly after she recovered, Amanda discovered that her partner had sustained a concussion and she had a mild whiplash.

“Life on Earth suddenly seemed fuzzy, like a night with a few drinks, while this experience felt like true, crystal-clear reality,” she explained. “I felt a profound sense of peace and a divine presence surrounding me – like being with billions of spirits from all of creation.”

How Amanda’s life changed after the NDE

She sold her home, quit her job as a paramedic, and broke off her long-term relationship following the NDE.

“I started a trauma coaching business online and do volunteer work. I’m still traveling, living out of a suitcase, and focusing on personal growth,” Amanda said.

“The experience changed me profoundly – I’m less attached to material things, more spiritual, and more focused on gratitude.”
