This summer’s night sky is buzzing with celestial events, including a rare quadruple meteor shower. On July 29–30, the Alpha Capricornids and Southern Delta Aquariids will peak. Viewers in the Southern Hemisphere will have the best views, but lucky observers in the U.S. might spot them too. The Southern Delta Aquariids can produce up to 20 meteors per hour, while Alpha Capricornids bring slower, brighter fireballs. Though only five Alpha meteors appear hourly, they’re spectacular. This all sets the stage for August’s Perseids, one of the most anticipated showers of the year. Despite moonlight interference, they could still produce dozens of meteors per hour. For the best view, head to a dark area after midnight and face the southern sky.
