Two Atlantic City men faced a courtroom packed with police officers after allegedly trying to kill a cop during a robbery. Officers responded to three suspects attempting to rob three people outside Caesars casino, sparking a shootout. One suspect, 25-year-old Jerome Damon, was killed. Officer Jostle Vadell, 29, suffered critical injuries but was later stabilized.
“Our hearts are heavy, but our resolve to capture these suspects remains undeterred,” New Jersey PBA president Patrick Colligan said, requesting prayers for Vadell and his family.
In court, Demitrius Cross and Martel Chisolm encountered a sea of uniformed officers honoring their injured colleague. Vadell’s wife shared an encouraging update on Facebook, saying he was off the ventilator, speaking in short words, sitting with support, and regaining movement in his left side. She credited his progress to the outpouring of love and support.
The story went viral, with commenters praising law enforcement’s solidarity and condemning the accused. “They should never be released back into the community,” one wrote. Another added, “Great to see the men and women in blue showing support for each other.”
