ARKANSAS HIKING MURDERS: TIMELINE REVEALS TEACHER SUSPECT’S ROUTE FROM CLASSROOM TO COURTROOM

A tragic home invasion in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley claimed the life of 62-year-old former teacher Holly Hatcher. Authorities say the attacker, 41-year-old Kevin Moses Walker of Maryland, fatally stabbed her before her husband, Michael Hatcher, 65, retrieved a handgun and shot him dead. Michael sustained arm injuries during the struggle.

The couple’s son, 31-year-old country singer Spencer Hatcher, canceled upcoming shows as the family mourns. Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson, who knew the Hatchers personally, called the crime “highly unusual” and praised Holly as a beloved educator.
Investigators say Walker had no violent criminal history. Two days earlier, he rented a campsite at Endless Caverns, toured the site, and bought a sleeping bag and knife. His car was later found abandoned after a crash into a local store.

Details of what prompted the attack remain unclear. Michael Hatcher thanked the community for its outpouring of support, saying, “We’ve cried, we’ve hurt, we’ve hugged, and we have found more love than we ever knew existed.
Spencer Hatcher signed with Stone Country Records in 2023 and vowed to reschedule canceled performances.
