Mother of Three

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, early in the morning, 38-year-old Rachel Booth, a beloved mother of three from Barnton, near Northwich in Cheshire, went missing. She had gone for what was believed to be a 45-minute jog and was last seen on CCTV at around 3:50 a.m., entering a Shell petrol station on the A556, several miles from her home. There, she calmly purchased wine and milk, and staff noted that nothing appeared unusual about her demeanor.

Eyewitnesses also reported seeing her walk past a nearby house around 3:55 a.m., suggesting she was heading somewhere on foot after the shop visit. When she failed to return home, her family reported her missing, sparking a large-scale search operation.

Early Signs and the Search Efforts

Cheshire Police, supported by sniffer dogs, divers, underwater search units, and rescue teams, combed the Oakmere area and surrounding woodlands, including around Delamere Lake and the adjacent Wild Shore Delamere water park—sites potentially connected to her disappearance. For safety and investigation purposes, the water park was temporarily closed.

Devastating Discovery

The search ended in heartbreak on Monday, July 21, when a body was found in a lake in Oakmere. Police indicated the body was believed to be Rachel’s, later confirming its identity through formal identification procedures.

Authorities confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, and a file was being prepared for the coroner.

A Community in Mourning and Remembrance

Rachel’s passing sent shockwaves throughout her tight-knit community. Neighbors and local shopkeepers remembered her tenderly—describing her as kind, intelligent, active, and deeply involved in her children’s lives.

Her family, who also called her Helena, shared a heartfelt tribute: “Rachel… was a cherished member of our family. She was a guiding light whose strength, love, and devotion touched us all. Her kindness was constant and her presence a strength to everyone she knew… a loving mother, wife, daughter and sister… Her absence leaves a space, but her smiles are a memory we will treasure forever.”

Police continued to stand by the family, offering specialist support and urging the public to respect their need for privacy during this extremely difficult time.
