Life sometimes hands us experiences that feel clear on the surface yet quietly unsettled underneath. That’s where I’ve found myself after my girlfriend’s recent leg surgery. Although the procedure went well and her recovery is moving in the right direction, I can’t quite shake the uneasy feeling that came from how everything unfolded beforehand. My concern isn’t about the medical outcome, but about the confusing sequence of events leading up to the operation.
What began as a routine, well-explained procedure suddenly shifted when the hospital rescheduled her surgery with little clarity. First, they postponed it due to a vague “special situation” involving the operating room. Then, only days later, they moved it forward again and told her the new date would be the very next day. The abrupt changes felt more reactive than organized, and the lack of detailed explanation left me with lingering questions.
Because I couldn’t be there in person, I relied on updates from her sister and friend, who assured me that the staff handled everything professionally. Still, the uncertainty surrounding the planning continues to sit in the back of my mind.
As she heals, I’m learning that it’s okay to acknowledge these uneasy feelings — and to give myself space to process them with honesty and care.
