Gary Sinise’s public strength has long been rooted in service to others, especially wounded veterans and grieving Gold Star families.
Now, in the wake of his son Mac’s death from chordoma, that strength is marked by a raw,
personal grief he never wanted to understand so intimately. His words as a father, not a celebrity,
carried the weight of every parent’s worst fear, and yet,
they were threaded with gratitude that Mac’s suffering had finally ended.
Mac’s life, though heartbreakingly short, was fiercely purposeful.
A gifted musician and USC-trained composer, he poured his remaining energy into art,
drumming with the Lt. Dan Band and finishing his album, “Resurrection & Revival,” even after paralysis.
