Tammy Lynn Leppert’s life seemed destined for stardom — beauty pageants, magazine covers, and film roles all pointed toward a bright Hollywood future. Born in Rockledge, Florida, in 1965, Tammy was captivating from a young age, winning nearly 280 of the 300 pageants she entered and appearing in a 1978 CoverGirl magazine spread. Her natural charisma and ambition propelled her into acting, with roles in Little Darlings (1980), Spring Break, and a memorable appearance in Scarface (1983).
Friends and family noted a sudden shift in Tammy’s demeanor after an unsupervised party following Spring Break filming. She became anxious, paranoid, and fearful for her safety, culminating in an emotional breakdown on set during Scarface. By July 1983, her behavior had escalated, leading to a brief mental health admission.
On July 6, 1983, Tammy left home with a male friend and was last seen near Cocoa Beach. She never returned. Reports vary on her attire and condition, with some claiming she might have been pregnant. Over the years, theories ranged from voluntary disappearance to murder, with notorious local killers Christopher Wilder and John Brennan Crutchley considered possible suspects. Her mother, Linda Curtis, died in 1995 still seeking answers.
Tammy’s disappearance remains one of Hollywood’s most enduring mysteries.
