A Pennsylvania mom admitted to shackling her 11-year-old son to a fuel tank and other objects in an attempt to control his eating.
Chazzity Candelario, of North Lebanon Township, pleaded guilty to several charges over the treatment of the boy. Court prosecutors revealed that Candelario, who was 33 when taken into custody, confined her son on one particular instance for 17 hours after “eating too many hot dogs,” WGAL reported.
Law enforcement officers were called to Candelario’s residence at 680 East Kercher Avenue on January 11, 2025, following reports of a boy who “restrained with handcuffs,” according to Lebanon County Regional Police’s online statement.
“An investigation revealed the juvenile’s mother … had restrained the juvenile to an oil tank in the basement using handcuffs,” authorities confirmed.
The cops interviewed her children during Candelario’s absence from the home. The youngsters led an officer to a bedroom, where they discovered her son shackled to the railing of an upper bunk bed.
The child explained to authorities that he had initially been confined in the basement but had succeeded in getting out. During his brief freedom, prosecutors said he inadvertently fastened himself to the bed with handcuffs.
