Former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 84, has been hospitalized in Luxembourg after sustaining an injury while attending an official diplomatic event, according to her office. Pelosi was in Europe as part of a bipartisan congressional delegation marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, a pivotal World War II campaign symbolizing transatlantic cooperation and sacrifice.
Her spokesman confirmed that she received medical care from local doctors after the incident, which officials say occurred when Pelosi tripped and fell during a ceremony. Witnesses described the fall as sudden, noting that she was assisted immediately by security and medical staff. While details of the injury have not been disclosed, aides said Pelosi was alert, stable, and in good spirits.
As a result, Pelosi was unable to continue the remainder of the delegation’s events, including memorial ceremonies and meetings with European leaders. Lawmakers from both parties expressed concern and wished her a speedy recovery, praising her resilience and long record of service.
Pelosi’s office said she looks forward to returning home soon and appreciates the outpouring of support.
