Chapter 1: The Cruelty in the Recovery Room
Anna lay in the sterile quiet of St. Jude’s recovery suite, her body shattered after a complicated C-section that brought her premature twins into the world. Exhausted, exposed, and aching, she waited for her husband, Mark, expecting comfort and joy.
Instead, he arrived with his young executive assistant, Chloe. Mark barely glanced at the newborns. His eyes fixed on Anna with disgust. He mocked her appearance, dismissed the babies as a problem for nannies, and dropped divorce papers onto her chest, the pain sharp and deliberate. He accused her of ruining his image and declared Chloe his upgrade.
Despite the humiliation, Anna stayed calm. She signed the papers Mark smugly believed would protect his wealth. What he didn’t realize was that the clause he demanded—separating assets by legal ownership—favored her entirely.
As Mark left, triumphant and cruel, Anna picked up the phone. She didn’t call a lawyer.
She activated the leadership transition protocol.
The real reckoning had just begun.
