Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stressed the urgency. “It’s a race against time,” he told NBC. “I hope that window hasn’t closed.” Nancy relies on daily medication, raising serious concerns for her well-being the longer she remains missing.
A troubling development emerged Tuesday: TMZ reported receiving an email that appears to be a ransom note. According to TMZ founder Harvey Levin, the message demands a specific amount of money and contains details suggesting insider knowledge. “At the bottom, there are certain things about what she was wearing and damage to the house to say, ‘It’s us,’” Levin said.
The note allegedly requests millions in Bitcoin and sets a deadline, accompanied by a vague, threatening “or else.” Authorities have confirmed awareness of possible ransom-related communications but have not verified their authenticity. “We are taking all tips and leads very seriously,” Sheriff Nanos said.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage, checking individuals with criminal histories in the area, and examining signs of forced entry, blood at the home, and abandoned personal items, including Nancy’s phone, wallet, and car. Her pacemaker stopped syncing with monitoring equipment around 2 a.m., suggesting something may have occurred during the early morning hours.
Nancy was last seen Saturday night after being dropped off by Savannah Guthrie’s sister. She was reported missing Sunday morning when she failed to attend church, prompting an extensive search with local deputies, drones, search dogs, and federal assistance.
