In the early hours of February 1, 2026, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie vanished from her home in the Catalina Foothills. According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, surveillance systems at the residence went offline around 1:47 a.m. Later digital data indicated movement near the property, and investigators believe she was taken against her will.
Deputies conducting a welfare check later that morning discovered blood on the front porch, damaged cameras, and an open door. Nancy’s phone and medication were left behind. Authorities confirmed the blood belonged to her and officially classified the case as a kidnapping.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation joined the investigation, working with technology providers to recover surveillance data. Images released to the public show a masked individual near the home before the disappearance.
Nancy, a retired teacher and mother of three, including TODAY show anchor Savannah Guthrie, is described as having limited mobility and requiring daily medication. Investigators continue to pursue leads and urge anyone with credible information to contact law enforcement.
