Family, friends, and fans gathered to say goodbye to Rob Burrow, the former Leeds and England rugby star who died at 41 after a brave battle with motor neurone disease (MND). His passing came just hours before construction began on a new MND research center that will bear his name, cementing his legacy beyond the sport.
A civic reception at Leeds Civic Hall, hosted by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, brought together around 180 guests, including family, teammates, and representatives from the MND Association. Hundreds more lined the streets of West Yorkshire as the cortege passed, many wearing Leeds jerseys in tribute.
Floral messages reading “Dad,” “Bro,” and “Son” adorned the hearse. The procession paused at his former ground, where fans signed a book of condolences. In a final message, Burrow urged others to never “waste a moment” and always “dare to dream.”
