Growing up, my father’s life was full of challenges. Raised in deep poverty, he often found himself without access to basic necessities, including books. His cousins would hide their books whenever he asked to borrow them. Despite this, he dreamed of becoming the Bank Manager of our village’s Rural Bank. However, he couldn’t qualify for the exam because he couldn’t afford the coaching fees needed to study. Even after fighting with his own father to continue his education through a Master’s degree, he still faced unemployment and constant ridicule from his family. His cousins and their parents taunted him at every turn.

At 29, my father was married, but even his brother-in-law faced scrutiny for the marriage: “Why would you choose him for your sister?” they asked. Through it all, his wife—my mother—stood by him and encouraged him to keep going. With her support, he never stopped preparing for a better future. Despite all odds, he passed the State Civil Services exam and became a Deputy Collector. For a man who feared dreaming beyond the limits of his humble upbringing, he had achieved something unimaginable.

Today, my father is an Additional Collector, a position of great responsibility and respect. His journey from a boy who couldn’t even borrow a book to one of the highest-ranking officials in the state is a testament to his perseverance. He is more than just my dad—he is my inspiration.
