I RETURNED HOME TO MY DAUGHTER SLEEPING IN THE BASEMENT UNDER STAIRS — MY MIL PAID FOR THIS SO MUCH.I have two daughters:
After my mom’s recent passing, my husband, Grant, and I flew out for her funeral, leaving our two daughters, Tessa (10) and Sadie (4), with my mother-in-law, Linda. When we returned home, I noticed a faint light coming from the basement, which seemed unusual since no one ever goes down there. I went to investigate and was shocked to find Tessa, curled up asleep on the cold floor under a blanket. When I woke her, she explained that Linda had told her to sleep there so she wouldn’t “get in the way.” I was deeply upset by this. Linda had paid for many things for us, but seeing Tessa treated like this, in such an uncomfortable and unwelcoming space, made me question her intentions. What had really been going on while we were away? The situation left me feeling uneasy and protective over my daughters.
