Virgin Airlines has announced plans to allow dogs and cats in the cabin of its flights, a service that could launch within the next year. If successful, Virgin will become the first airline in Australia to offer this option. The decision comes after a 2021 survey showed strong demand for the service, with 85% of respondents supporting it and 57% saying they would fly more frequently if allowed to bring pets. Virgin Airlines CEO Jayne Hrdlicka emphasized the company’s commitment to animals, noting that the service has been successful overseas and aligns with customer preferences. The initiative is part of a broader trend, as several major North American carriers already permit pets in cabins on domestic flights. This move reflects Virgin Australia’s ongoing efforts to enhance the travel experience for pet owners and to cater to growing demand for pet-friendly services.
