Losing a loved one is one of life’s greatest challenges, and Jennifer Garner recently shared her grief with the world after the passing of her 85-year-old father, William John Garner.
Jennifer remained close to her parents throughout her life, celebrating their milestones, including her parents’ 59th wedding anniversary, which she wrote about in a heartfelt blog post. “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for making sure my sisters and I had a safe and happy childhood,” she shared at the time.
Announcing her father’s passing, Jennifer wrote: “My dad died in peace on Saturday afternoon. When he left, we were with him and sang ‘Amazing Grace.’” Reflecting on his life, she added, “The death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, happy life is not a tragedy, but grief is inevitable and can come up at any time.”
Jennifer expressed gratitude for her father’s kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love as a “girl dad.” She also thanked the medical teams who cared for him.
During this time of loss, Jennifer’s reflections serve as a reminder of the love and gratitude that remains even in the face of grief.
