KGKC Telemundo Kansas City confirmed the passing of its sports anchor, Adan Manzano (Aguilar). The 27-year-old died on Wednesday, February 6, and was remembered as a promising talent dedicated to his work.
The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s office reported that Manzano passed away in a Kenner hotel with no obvious signs of trauma. While an autopsy has been conducted, his official cause of death remains pending further tests.
Manzano was covering Super Bowl LIV for Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports. KGKC stated, “We are cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate this tragic event.” Colleagues praised him as a rising star who brought passion and excellence to his reporting.
He was a sideline reporter for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Spanish-language broadcasts and the play-by-play announcer for the KC Current. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas expressed condolences, highlighting Manzano’s impact on the community.
Tragically, Manzano’s young daughter, Eleanor, has now lost both parents. Her mother, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd Manzano-Aguilar, passed away in April 2024. The sports world mourns Manzano, honoring his dedication and love for the game.
